Workers Compensation Treatment
At Competitive Edge we strive to get injured employees back
to work in a well defined amount of time. We
are firm believers in an outcomes based treatment approach. A few key
principles drive the clinical decision process when treating
workers who are injured on the job:
- Direct and regular contact is maintained with case managers,
physicians and nurses to promote continuity of care.
- Treatment recommendations are based on Confirmed Abnormal
Objective findings relative to the acute injury in question.
- Pain alone in the absence of Confirmed Abnormal Objective
evidence of injury is not considered relevant when making
recommendations to continue care and does NOT keep the
patient in the system.
- Limitations in function must be directly related to the
objective clinical evidence and must directly limit specific
job functions in order to qualify for ongoing physical
rehabilitation.
- Aggressive Case Management utilizing a high intensity,
short duration treatment approach that focuses on early
activation and restoration of function.
- Focused treatment on the individual patient's specific
dysfunction or status and not based on nondescript diagnostic
labels such as “back or neck pain”.
- Over utilization of services is avoided and discharge
is recommended when acute goals are met (typically within
2-4 weeks) in non-surgical cases.
Additionally, Competitive Edge is qualified to
offer a Physical Reconditioning Program.
This service focuses on getting an employee with a sub acute
injury back into the working physical condition appropriate
to minimize the risk for re-injury. We will consult
with each employer/carrier on a case by case basis in order
to better meet their specific needs prior to making any specific
recommendations. Our state of the art Oldsmar facility
(opening in the fall of 2006) is specifically set up to handle
this program.
