JASON
D. WAZ - PT
Jason was born in Buffalo, NY and moved to Florida as
a teenager where excelled at hockey, baseball and football as he has
always had a passion for sports. In 1994 he earned his undergraduate
degree in biological sciences and pre-medicine from Florida State
University. He earned his professional degree in Physical Therapy from
the University of Florida with High Honors in 1996. He was named CEO of
Ewing and Thomas Physical Therapy in 2005 and co-founded Competitive
Edge a short time later. In his off time, he enjoys spending time with
his wife and son.
Jason has had the privilege of working with many gifted athletes at all
levels while perfecting his trade. He has rehabbed athletes in many team
and individual sports including members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning,
Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Indianapolis Colts and Toronto Blue
Jays to name a few. He has worked with thousands of baseball players
helping them stay on the field after bouts with debilitating shoulder or
elbow pain. Using unique manual therapy techniques that have been
adapted over the years to this very specific group of athletes, he often
can help players back on the field after just a few treatment sessions.
Jason has used his knowledge of kinesiology and biomechanics to train
and rehabilitate golfers at all levels and has educated PGA and LPGA
tour professionals through seminars. Getting an athlete back to the top
of their game following an injury is his greatest goal. His passion is
to help the athlete make their best better.
Throughout his professional career, Jason has gained vast experience in
orthopedics and sports medicine. In addition to having significant
experience treating common injuries and conditions, Jason's expertise
includes the evaluation and treatment of complex neck and shoulder
injuries, neck and low back radiating pain management and
vestibular/dizziness conditions He has worked with Parkinsonism, stroke,
spinal cord injured and amputee patients. He also has earned clinical
awards while managing workers compensation cases.
Jason's proven track record with the clients he has had the privilege to
treat over the past 15 years has inspired him to use the phrase "Results
Matter". He is a true believer in emphasizing the "care" in healthcare.
As the co-founder of Competitive Edge, Jason and his team strive to
prove this philosophy with each client they treat.

STEPHANIE
BROOKE - DPT, ATC
Stephanie is a graduate from the University of South
Florida where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In 2007,
she graduated with honors from the University of Florida where she
completed her undergraduate studies in Athletic Training with a minor in
Health Education and Behavior.
At the University of Florida, Stephanie had the
opportunity to rehabilitate athletic injuries while working with the
men's and women's swimming/diving teams and the women's volleyball team
throughout the competitive season and off-season.
She also has experience working with athletes in various sports such as
gymnastics, soccer, softball, baseball and track from the high school
level to the elite level. Her background as an athletic trainer gives
her a unique perspective of the training regimens of many sports, which
allows her to develop effective sport-specific physical therapy
treatment plans tailored to each individual.
Stephanie has lived in the Tampa area for the past 17
years. She enjoys reading, swimming, playing tennis and watching sports.
Her clinical interests are in developing programs for injury prevention
in high school athletics and incorporating current evidence-based
rehabilitation techniques into patient treatment. Stephanie is excited
for the opportunity to work with patients at all levels of physical
fitness to help restore them to their optimal level of function. |

CLAUDIA
McCOY - Certified Personal Trainer,
German Licensed Physical Therapist, German Licensed Athletic Trainer,
Certified Sports Conditioning Specialist, Apex Nutrition Coach,
Certified TRX-Instructor, Certified in SpiderTech Kinesiotaping.
Certified Flexibility Coach Claudia was born and
raised in Stade, Germany, where she practiced Physical Therapy for over
8 years. She received her German license in Athletic Training in 1999
and has been working with many individual athletes overseas. She
contracted with a semi professional European Handball team before
getting into the Wellness Fitness industry, which led her to work in
Africa as well as Portugal. After meeting her husband James, she moved
to Florida in 2002 where she earned her certification as a Personal
Trainer, Certified Sports Conditioning Specialist, Advanced Flexibility
Specialist, and Apex Nutrition coach. Her experience ranges from weight
management, sports specific training, functional training, functional
imbalances analysis, nutrition coaching as well as presenting seminars
and guest speaking.
She has also been published in the book Health Beyond
Medicine written by Dr. Scott Paton DC, MS, ATC in 2008 and has built an
incredible reputation among athletes, doctors and therapists in the
greater Tampa Bay Area where she now resides with her husband and her
two children.
Claudia is happy to join the team at Competitive Edge
where she is following her passion to train and help athletes achieve
their highest potential. She is an expert at combining sports specific
programs and functional training that will enhance all areas of athletic
performance. Claudia's understanding of biomechanics and sport specific
movement patterns enables her to utilize the most effective approach to
optimize mobility, power, speed, strength, balance, functional
flexibility, core strength, explosiveness and recovery.
Claudia has personal experiences as a competitive
athlete in tennis, team handball (Former Semi Professional Player),
triathlon, golf, running, snow skiing (instructor), soccer, martial
arts, inline skating (instructor), and gymnastics. In training her
clients she can pull from these experiences to help you reach your
highest level of athletic performance while producing the results you
are looking for in healthy way. Competitive Edge is pleased to add

DAVE
(HAP) HUDSON - ATC/L
Hap is currently utilizing his talents working as the
Athletic Trainer and Rehab. Coordinator in the Toronto Blue Jays
organization.
Prior to becoming the co-founder of Competitive Edge,
Hap had a successful career rehabbing professional athletes in the
Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball team
organizations Hap's resume includes rehabbing such players as Ozzie
Smith, Willie McGee, Terry Pendleton, Vince Coleman Darren Daulton, Curt
Schilling, Lenny Dykstra, John Kruk and Scott Rolen. He also has treated
Fred (Crime Dog) McGriff as well as PGA tour player John Huston and
former FSU and NFL quarterback Casey Weldon. His reputation as a premier
rehab trainer has led him to work with professional athletes in Japan as
well as Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
Hap's career has included working with performance
training specialists to improve the athletic skills of elite, world
class level athletes as well as collegiate level basketball players at
the University of Louisville.
Hap was instrumental in connecting with high school
athletes, their parents and coaches in order to help each student reach
their potential through the promotion of peak performance, health and
fitness.
Hap is a graduate of Mississippi College where he was
inducted into the school's Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. He and his wife
Vonda have 2 children and live in Trinity, FL.
Despite his extremely busy travel schedule, Hap
continues to have an influence with the athletic performance enhancement
programs at Competitive Edge. |
